Remote-work visa Thailand — DTV, LTR, and the real options
Thailand's DTV (Destination Thailand Visa), LTR, and the freelance-friendly workarounds. Cost, eligibility, and which visa fits which nomad income tier.
Thailand launched the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) in July 2024 — a 5-year multi-entry visa aimed squarely at remote workers earning outside Thailand. It costs ฿10,000, allows 180-day stays per entry (extendable once), and requires proof of ฿500,000 in savings or a foreign employment contract. For higher earners (US$80k+), the Long-Term Resident (LTR) visa runs 10 years with tax breaks. Everyone below the LTR threshold uses DTV, Elite Visa (฿600k–2M lump sum), or the old work-permit + Non-B combo.
