Royal Garden Plaza — Walking Street Gateway

Older mall at the Beach Road entrance to Walking Street. Smaller and less crowded than Central. Notable for: Ripley's Believe It or Not museum, 4D cinema, souvenir shops. Shopping: mainly mid-range Thai brands and tourist-oriented shops. Food: Pizza Company, Coffee Club, and small food court. Popular with tourists due to Walking Street proximity. Air-conditioned refuge from Beach Road heat. Open daily 10 AM–10 PM. Underground parking available.

Central Marina — Lifestyle & Entertainment

Renovated from the old Central Center, now a lifestyle-focused mall on North Pattaya Road. Smaller than Central Festival but with a curated feel. Food: varied restaurant selection, street food market section. More relaxed atmosphere than Central Festival. Good for families. Open daily 10:30 AM–9:30 PM.

    Friendship Supermarket & Mall (Tukcom)

Tukcom IT Mall (attached to Friendship) is the go-to for electronics: phones, laptops, camera gear, gaming accessories, and phone repairs. Multiple floors of small shops — compare prices across several before buying. Friendship supermarket offers imported foods not found elsewhere. Located on South Pattaya Road. More local feel — fewer tourists than Central. Bargaining possible at smaller shops. Be cautious of counterfeit electronics. Open daily 10 AM–9 PM.

Terminal 21 Pier 21: cheapest (35–50 THB), largest variety, use prepaid card system. Central Festival Tops Food Hall: mid-range (50–80 THB), clean, good quality Thai food. Royal Garden: limited food court, mainly restaurants. Central Marina: street food section plus restaurants. Budget-friendly: Tukcom/Friendship — local prices, bargaining possible. Royal Garden: tourist pricing in some shops. Central Marina: moderate. For the same brand, prices are identical across malls (Uniqlo, H&M). For non-branded items and food, Terminal 21 offers the best value. VAT refund (7%) available at Central Festival for tourists spending 2,000+ THB at participating stores.

    Best Times to Visit

Weekday mornings (10:30 AM–12 PM): quietest, easiest parking, no crowds. Weekday afternoons: moderate traffic, comfortable shopping. Weekend afternoons (2–6 PM): busiest — avoid if you dislike crowds. Evening (after 7 PM): restaurants busiest but shops quieter. Sale seasons: June (mid-year sale, 30–70% off) and December (year-end sale). Thai holiday weekends (Songkran, Loy Krathong) are extremely crowded — all malls become social gathering points.

Which Mall Is Best For You?

Family with kids: Central Marina (Harbor Land, Art in Paradise) or Terminal 21 (themed floors, cheap food). Budget shopper: Terminal 21 (food court + indie brands) or Tukcom (electronics). Luxury/brand shopper: Central Festival (only real option). Tech buyer: Tukcom for variety, PowerBuy at Central for guaranteed genuine. Tourist first visit: Terminal 21 for the experience, then Central Festival for brands. Rainy day activity: any mall — Pattaya's malls are excellent weather escapes.
