    Weekend Getaways from Pattaya

    Koh Samet (Rayong)

    Just 2 hours from Pattaya + 30-min speedboat. White sand beaches, turquoise water, fire shows at night. Budget bungalows from 600 THB or luxury resorts from 3,000 THB/night. Best beaches: Ao Wai, Ao Phrao. Entry fee 200 THB for foreigners.

    Khao Yai National Park

    Kanchanaburi

    Ayutthaya

    Khao Yai Wineries

    PB Valley and GranMonte wineries are 3 hours from Pattaya. Tours, tastings (from 300 THB), and excellent restaurants with valley views. PB Valley's Pirom restaurant is outstanding. Best visited Oct–Feb when grapes are in season.

    Trat & Koh Chang

    3–4 hours east of Pattaya. Koh Chang is Thailand's second-largest island with waterfalls, jungle, and quiet beaches. Ferry from Trat pier (30 min, 120 THB). Less developed than Phuket or Samui. Budget rooms from 500 THB/night.

    Camping at Khao Khiao

    Just 40 minutes from Pattaya, Khao Khiao Open Zoo and surrounding area offer camping spots with mountain views. The zoo has night safari tours (500 THB adults). Nearby Siriracha has the Tiger Zoo and Japanese garden. Easy half-day escape.

    Hua Hin & Pranburi

    3 hours south via Highway 36 and 3. Royal beach town with night markets, vineyards, and Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park (stunning cave with royal pavilion). Sam Roi Yot's Phraya Nakhon Cave is one of Thailand's most photographed spots.

    Bang Phra Reservoir

    Only 30 minutes north of Pattaya. Popular for bird watching, cycling, and peaceful lakeside dining. Wat Khao Chee Chan (giant Buddha carved into mountainside) is nearby. Perfect for a relaxed half-day trip away from the city buzz.

    Chanthaburi Gem Town

    2 hours east of Pattaya. Famous for gem trading (Gem Street market on weekends), French-colonial cathedral, excellent fruit (durian capital), and beautiful waterfalls. Namtok Phlio is a stunning waterfall with sacred fish. Great cultural day trip.

    Si Racha & Koh Sichang

    45 minutes north. Si Racha is home to Sriracha sauce's origins, a charming waterfront, and great seafood. Take a 40-min ferry to Koh Sichang (50 THB) — a quiet island with a royal palace, Chinese temple, and no tourist crowds.
