Full Moon Parties in Pattaya
Venues, dates, tickets, dress code, safety tips, and how Pattaya's full moon events compare to Koh Phangan.
Full Moon Party Scene in Pattaya
While Koh Phangan hosts Thailand's most famous full moon party, Pattaya has developed its own monthly full moon events at beachfront clubs and open-air venues. These parties run from 21:00 to 04:00, featuring international DJs, fire shows, UV body paint stations, and themed dance floors. Entry typically costs 500–1,500 THB including one or two drinks. Pattaya's version attracts a mix of expats, tourists, and Thai party-goers.
Top Venues & Locations
Beachfront clubs along Pattaya Beach Road and Jomtien host regular full moon events. Walking Street mega-clubs throw themed full moon nights with extended hours. Beach clubs near Na Jomtien offer open-air events with sand dance floors and ocean views. Some rooftop venues at major hotels also run full moon cocktail parties — more upscale, 1,500–2,000 THB entry with premium drinks included.
Dates & Scheduling
Full moon parties happen on or within 1–2 days of the actual full moon each month. Peak season events (November–March) are larger and more frequent, sometimes spanning 2–3 nights. Check venue social media pages on Facebook and Instagram for exact dates — they're usually announced 2–3 weeks in advance. Songkran (April) and New Year full moons are the biggest events of the year.
Tickets & Entry (500–2,000 THB)
Standard entry: 500–800 THB at beer-bar style events. Mid-range beach clubs: 800–1,500 THB with 1–2 drink tokens. Premium hotel events: 1,500–2,000 THB with open bar for a set period. VIP packages with table service: 5,000–15,000 THB for groups of 4–6. Book online for 10–20% discounts. Walk-up prices are always higher. Some venues offer early-bird pricing if you arrive before 22:00.
Dress Code & What to Wear
Beach parties: shorts, tank tops, sandals — casual and comfortable. Neon and white clothing glows under UV lights — popular choice. Many venues sell UV body paint at the door (100–200 THB). Upscale rooftop events may require smart casual — no flip-flops or sleeveless shirts. Leave valuables at your hotel. Wear shoes you don't mind getting dirty. Bring a small waterproof bag for your phone and cash.
Safety Tips
Stay with your group and agree on a meeting point. Don't accept drinks from strangers. Keep cash in a front pocket or money belt — crowds attract pickpockets. Drink water between alcoholic drinks (dehydration is real in tropical heat). Don't swim at night — no lifeguards and dark water is dangerous. Use Grab to get home, never drive. Tourist Police: 1155. Keep your hotel address saved on your phone.
Music & Entertainment
Expect a mix of EDM, house, techno, hip-hop, and Thai pop across different stages. Larger events have 2–3 stages with different genres. Fire dancers perform on the beach between sets. UV paint stations and glow-stick vendors are everywhere. Some events feature live bands before the DJ sets start at 23:00. Foam parties are occasionally combined with full moon events at larger clubs.
Pattaya vs Koh Phangan Full Moon
Koh Phangan is the original — 10,000–30,000 people on Haad Rin beach, a bucket-list experience. Pattaya's events are smaller (500–3,000 people), more accessible, and you don't need a ferry or flight. Pattaya lets you party and return to your condo the same night. Koh Phangan is a multi-day commitment. Pattaya events are more polished and venue-based; Koh Phangan is raw beach chaos. Both are fun — different vibes.
Best Arrival Time & Flow
Arrive at 21:00–22:00 for a good spot and shorter entry queues. The party peaks between midnight and 02:00. Some people pre-game at nearby bars until 23:00 then head to the main event. After 02:00, energy winds down at most venues though some continue until 04:00. After-parties happen at late-night clubs on Walking Street. Eating before the event is essential — food options at venues are limited and overpriced.
Fire Shows & Performances
Fire shows are a signature element of full moon events in Thailand. Performers spin fire poi, breathe fire, and dance with flaming staffs on the beach. Shows typically happen at 23:00 and 01:00. Keep a safe distance — at least 3 meters. Don't try to participate even if invited while drunk. Photography is great during fire shows — use burst mode on your phone. Some venues have professional fire dance troupes from Koh Samet and Koh Phangan.
Themed Full Moon Events
Many Pattaya venues run themed full moon parties — neon nights, white parties, beach raves, retro nights, and tropical themes. Halloween and Christmas full moons are especially elaborate. Some beach clubs do pool-party full moons during the day (12:00–18:00) followed by the nighttime event. Check event pages for theme announcements and dress accordingly — themed parties are more fun when everyone participates.
Budget Planning
Budget night: 1,500–2,500 THB (cheap entry, 5–6 beers, street food, Grab home). Mid-range: 3,000–5,000 THB (beach club entry, cocktails, UV paint, Grab). Splurge: 5,000–10,000 THB (VIP table, premium drinks, multiple venues). Drinks inside venues cost 150–350 THB for beers, 250–450 THB for cocktails. Pre-gaming at your hotel or 7-Eleven saves significantly. ATMs charge 220 THB foreign card fees — bring cash.
