King Power Duty Free at Pattaya (Central Road area) is the main duty-free shopping destination in the city. Open to tourists with international flight tickets. Browse and purchase in town — collect at the airport on departure. Products include liquor, tobacco, perfumes, cosmetics, designer brands, and Thai souvenirs. The Pattaya branch is smaller than the Bangkok flagship but has a solid selection. Bring your passport and flight details when visiting.

Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) has extensive duty-free shopping — King Power dominates with multiple stores across departure halls. U-Tapao Airport has a small duty-free area with limited selection. Don Mueang Airport has moderate duty-free options. BKK offers the best prices and widest selection. Shopping is available after passport control in the departure area. Arrival duty-free is also available at BKK for incoming travelers.

Thai duty-free allowance: 1 liter of alcohol per person. Duty-free prices: Johnnie Walker Black Label ~800–1,000 THB (vs 1,200+ in stores), Absolut Vodka ~500 THB, wine from 300 THB. Exceeding the 1-liter limit means paying full duty on the excess. Thai customs can confiscate excess alcohol. Prices are 20–40% cheaper than Thai retail. Tip: buy alcohol on arrival at BKK duty-free if your flight lands there.

Duty-free allowance: 200 cigarettes (1 carton) OR 250g of tobacco per person. This limit is strictly enforced. Excess tobacco is confiscated and fines apply. Tourists can claim 7% VAT refund on purchases over 2,000 THB from participating stores. Look for the 'VAT Refund for Tourists' sign. Request a PP10 form at point of sale with your passport. Claim at the VAT Refund office at the airport before check-in. Minimum total purchase for refund: 5,000 THB across all eligible stores. Processing fee deducted from refund. Cash refund up to 30,000 THB; above that, refund via bank transfer or check.
